Check out the official Netflix settings for shooting with Sony's smallest full frame cinema camera, the Sony FX3.
Following the release of the Sony's timecode adapter, the Sony FX3 has been officially approved by Netflix for recording features produced by the streaming service.
Netflix Capture Settings
These are the required settings for shooting Netflix material on the FX3:
1. Video Format
First of all, the required recording format for Netflix delivery is XAVC S-I 4K (3840 x 2160), which you select by going to Shooting — Image Quality/Recording — File Format.
2. Recording Format
Open up the recording format menu by going to Shooting — Image Quality/Recording — Movie — Record. Select one of the following modes and bitrates:
- 24p: 240 Mbps 4:2:2 10-bit
- 30p: 300 Mbps 4:2:2 10-bit
- 60p: 600 Mbps 4:2:2 10-bit
Use no lower than the 240 Mbps offered in 24p when recording in XAVC S-I format.
3. Log Shooting
The required log shooting mode is Cine EI which you activate by entering Shooting — Image Quality/Recording — Log Shooting. Choose one of the two base ISOs; 800 or 12800.
